These initiatives range from those in their inception to those making their last refinements before seeking necessary funding. Through sponsoring dozens of projects and seeing what has worked (and what hasn’t!), we can coach you through the possible pitfalls to give your project the best chance at success. In some cases, these projects receive seed funding from Mediators Foundation and become official Mediators’ projects.

Mediators Foundation became a 501(c)(3) – a legal non-profit business – in 1988, and has been sponsoring projects for over thirty years. The process of acquiring federal non-profit status and ensuring your records are tax-compliant can be cumbersome and lengthy. As a fiscal sponsor, Mediators provides administrative support, financial oversight, and an avenue to accept tax-deductible donations, allowing you to focus on the core work of your project. Furthermore, as a well-established player in the bridging field, we lend credibility to new ventures, and can connect you to our wide community of projects and colleagues. This relationship can be for the long or short term – we have had some projects at Mediators for many years, and others that we are proud to see grow into their own 501(c)(3)s.

Our team of advisors draw from decades of experience in project design and strategy, informed by familiarity of what makes projects fail and succeed in diverse areas of social change work. With our personalized guidance, social entrepreneurs are assisted in articulating their project’s vision and mission in a way that is most effective to garner traction with potential partners and funders. Mediators Foundation advises philanthropists and donors who have the intention of funding social change projects to achieve their specific objectives and goals. The Foundation can play roles ranging from clarifying donors' intentions and goals to providing interim project management. We can collaborate with family offices or foundation staff, as directed by donors. We provide this service specifically for projects that are consonant with our vision of bridging divides and strengthening democracy.
